The classic Philmont's High-Adventure trip. 7-12 day expeditions offered in the mountains of northern New Mexico each June-August.
Paperwork
_____  Completed Medical Exam Forms - Turn into trip leader prior to trip.

Clothing
_____  Bandana or Handkerchief - Pack two (BB)
_____  Gloves (Liner)
_____  Hat (Brim) - Flexible
_____  Hat (Knit) - Wool or polypro
_____  Hiking Boots - Well broken in
_____  Hiking Pants (Long) - Good for cool evenings.
_____  Hiking Pants (Shorts) - two pair are needed. Note, you can use two pair of zipper pants and leave one set of legs behind to cover your long and short pants requirements.
_____  Jacket/Fleece - Wool sweater or fleece work as well.
_____  Long Underwear (Mid Weight)
_____  Rain Gear - Sturdy, no ponchos. (A)
_____  Shirt (Long Sleeve)
_____  Shirt (Short Sleeve, Wicking ) - Two are needed.
_____  Shoes (lightweight) - Sneakers or tennis shoes.
_____  Sleeping Clothes - T-shirt & shorts to be worn only in sleeping bag.
_____  Socks (Heavy) - Three pair
_____  Socks (Liner) - May not be needed depending on heavy sock type. *
_____  Underwear - Three changes

_____  Backpack - Must have padded hip belt. External frame of about 4,000 cubic inches, or an internal pack of about 4,800 cubic inches. May be rented at Philmont.

_____  Insect Repellent - Non aerosol. (BB)
_____  Metal tent Pins - 10 per person
_____  Padlock - Extra security for crew locker.
_____  Philmont Fieldguide
_____  Rope - Three 50 foot, 1/8 inch nylon cords.
_____  Sewing Kit - With heavy thread & needle
_____  Shampoo - (BB)
_____  Shovel (Small) - To dig latrine.
_____  Spices for cooking - (BB) *
_____  Stove Fuel - 2 one qt bottles with funnel for white gas, or 4-5 Powermax canisters. Each can be purchased at resupply points.
_____  Sunscreen - SPF 25 or better. (BB)
_____  Tent - With waterproof ground cloth. One tent per two boys. Adults may use single tents.
_____  Water Purifier - Pack 2 or 3

No radios, tape/CD/MP3 players, video game devices, hammocks, deodorant, or perfumes. Cellphones are discouraged.
