Designed specifically for the sons and daughters of Training Center conference participants. These supervised treks coincide with the conference center schedules and provide 20-30 miles of back country hiking.

Paperwork

_______  Completed Medical Exam Forms - Turn into trip leader prior to trip.

Clothing

_______  Bandana or Handkerchief - Pack two (BB)
_______  Gloves (Liner)
_______  Hat (Brim) - Flexible
_______  Hat (Knit) - Wool or polypro
_______  Hiking Boots - Well broken in
_______  Hiking Pants (Long) - Good for cool evenings.
_______  Hiking Pants (Shorts) - two pair are needed. Note, you can use two pair of zipper pants and leave one set of legs behind to cover your long and short pants requirements.
_______  Jacket/Fleece - Wool sweater or fleece work as well.
_______  Long Underwear (Mid Weight)
_______  Rain Gear - Sturdy, no ponchos. (A)
_______  Shirt (Long Sleeve)
_______  Shirt (Short Sleeve, Wicking ) - Two are needed.
_______  Shoes (lightweight) - Sneakers or tennis shoes.
_______  Sleeping Clothes - T-shirt & shorts to be worn only in sleeping bag.
_______  Socks (Heavy) - 2-3 pair
_______  Socks (Liner) - May not be needed depending on heavy sock type. *
_______  Underwear - Three changes

_______  Backpack - Must have padded hip belt. External frame of about 4,000 cubic inches, or an internal pack of about 4,800 cubic inches. May be rented at Philmont.

Philmont will provide all crew equipment (including tents, cooking gear, and food)

No radios, tape/CD/MP3 players, video game devices, hammocks, deodorant, or perfumes. Cellphones are discouraged.
