When I have run the yearly troop calendar, and managed events in the past, management of all the paperwork was a rather cumbersome task that usually ended up being done with a series of spreadsheets and documents.

We are considering adding a complete troop calendar and event management system that would allow the outdoor coordinator to better manage this process. It would be flexible enough that it could be completely managed by one person on their own, or opened up such that scouts and parents could manage their own participation via the web. This would include event registration processes, automatic notifications, permission slip printing, point of contact tracking, driver tracking, etc. The ability to create and store customized packing lists is also being considered. It would be designed to allow parents to use it if desired, but would allow the coordinator to still use and enter paper registrations as may have been done in the past.

This is only a small subset of the features we are considering, but the amount of work is rather large, and we need to better understand the need before we proceed. I know it has been an issue for me in the past. Is this something you struggle with?
